Knowledge Today, Confidence for Tomorrow
School : Suria International School
Date : 11 March 2026
On 11 March 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m, Suria International School was full of excitement and curiosity conversations as a period health workshop was conducted smoothly. Organised by the Menses Health Organisation (MHO), the Positive Period Classroom brought together 78 girls aged 13 to 15 into a safe, girls-only environment where they could speak freely and ask questions without feeling embarrassed and awkward.
With the generous support of PopoMama, the session went beyond a typical school programme, creating a welcoming space where students could learn, ask questions and better understand their bodies. Through open conversations and interactive activities, the workshop encouraged students to build greater self-awareness, confidence and a positive relationship with menstruation.
Throughout the session, students explored important topics such as menstrual health, period hygiene and nutrition. Each topic was introduced in a simple and relatable way, with practical tips and everyday examples to help students connect what they learned to their own experiences.
The workshop started with an introduction to female reproductive anatomy, followed by a discussion on menstrual health. Students learned to recognise common physical and emotional changes before and during their periods, as well as several practical methods for tracking their menstrual cycles. The session then moved into period hygiene, where correct usage of various menstrual products and responsible disposal of sanitary pads were emphasised. To enhance understanding, students were also given the opportunity to see and handle different period products, including tampons, menstrual cups, and other alternatives.
What made the workshop especially meaningful was the open and positive atmosphere shared throughout the session. Students were encouraged to ask questions, share their thoughts and learn together as common period myths and misconceptions were discussed. By the end of the workshop, they left not only with a better understanding of menstrual health, but also with greater confidence and a more positive attitude towards their bodies and periods.
By the end of the workshop, students walked away with more than just new knowledge. They gained greater awareness, confidence and reassurance in understanding their bodies and menstrual health. With the generous support of PopoMama, the session provided students with practical knowledge and encouraged them to approach their periods with greater confidence and positivity.
More than a one-day learning experience, the workshop was another meaningful step towards creating a generation that feels informed, supported and comfortable talking about period.
