On 12 September 2024, 78 girls aged 13 years old, from SMK Seksyen 10 Kota Damansara attended an interactive Period Education Workshop sponsored by PopoMama. Although being in an urban school setting meant many students had a basic understanding of periods, this workshop provided them with valuable, practical insights that expanded their awareness.
This workshop focused on three main topics: understanding body changes and period symptoms, learning good hygiene practices, and how eating well can help with period pain. Students also got to try out different period products like tampons, menstrual cups, and cloth pads, and learned how to use them properly.
To make learning more engaging, quizzes with prizes were included to reinforce key points and encourage active participation. The workshop concluded with a Q&A and sharing session, offering the girls a supportive space to discuss their personal experiences and ask questions openly.
The event successfully provided these students with a deeper understanding of period wellness, equipping them with practical skills and confidence to manage their menstrual health. This initiative contributes to ongoing efforts to promote menstrual health awareness and reduce period stigma, even among those with some prior knowledge.
