Beyond Biology: Understanding Periods with Confidence

School  : Taylor’s International School

Date : 25 February 2026

On 25 February 2026, the Menses Health Organisation (MHO) had the chance to run our Positive Period Classroom (PPC) at Taylor’s International School. We were welcomed by 117 curious and excited students, aged 11 and 12, who wanted to learn more about periods and break the stigma around them. The session was designed not just to teach but also build confidence and make talking abouts periods feel normal.

During the workshop, we shared practical knowledge that goes beyond regular biology lessons. Students learned about female anatomy, and how to track their menstrual cycles, turning what can feel like a monthly surprise into something predictable. We also talked about hygiene, showing them the right way to handle and dispose of sanitary products. Nutrition was another focus, with tips on foods rich in iron and omega 3 to help manage energy and reduce discomfort during periods.

The quiz session was a highlight of the day. The students were so excited that they ran to the front to answer questions, laughing, cheering and having fun while learning. They also asked lots of questions during the talk, clearing their doubts and learning the facts behind common myths.

One of the most exciting moments was the hands-on demonstration of menstrual products. Many students were seeing tampons, menstrual cups, and discs for the first time. Shy giggles soon turned into curiosity and active participation as they explored the options and asked questions. This helped them feel confident to choose what works best for their bodies.

The PPC at Taylor’s International School created a safe and supportive space where students felt respected and listened to. Thanks to the support of PopoMama, we were able to empower these 117 students with knowledge and confidence about their periods. By the end of the day, they left feeling more informed and in control of their menstrual journeys. Let’s talk period, it’s time to make them normal!
