A Day of Learning, Sharing & Sisterhood
School : SMK Convent Klang
Date : 15 January 2026
On 15 January 2026, SMK Convent Klang was filled with energy, curiosity, and meaningful conversations as a period health workshop was successfully conducted. Organised by the Menses Health Organisation (MHO), the Positive Period Classroom brought together 408 female students aged 13 to 14 in a safe, girls-only space where open discussion was encouraged, and no question was ever considered awkward.
With the generous support of PopoMama, the session became far more than a typical school programme. It transformed into an interactive and empowering experience focused on building self-awareness, confidence, and a healthy relationship with menstruation. Throughout the workshop, students explored few topics including period health, proper hygiene practices, and the importance of nutrition in supporting the body throughout the period cycle. Information was delivered in a simple, relatable way, supported by practical tips and real-life examples that made learning both engaging and easy to understand.
The workshop took students on a journey of understanding their bodies, beginning with female reproductive anatomy and menstrual health before moving into cycle tracking, period hygiene and menstrual products. Students had the opportunity to see and explore different period products, including tampons and menstrual cups, while learning about proper use and disposal. The session also covered period-friendly nutrition, introducing simple food choices and key nutrients that can support the body throughout the menstrual cycle.
Learning became even more exciting with an interactive quiz, as hands quickly went up around the room and small prizes encouraged enthusiastic participation. Between laughter, shared experiences and curious questions, common period myths were addressed and misconceptions cleared in a supportive environment. By the end of the workshop, students walked away with more than new knowledge—they gained greater confidence, awareness and reassurance about their bodies.
More than just a single educational session, this workshop marked another meaningful step toward supporting long-term body confidence, resilience, and empowerment. Together, let’s talk period!
